  • Planet Platforms installs 75-foot aerial walkway  - 11/03/2010 Application

    Work at height innovator Planet Platforms has installed a 75-foot suspended Spandeck aerial walkway to provide easy access for maintenance of carriage roofs at Oxenhope. Maintaining and repairing carriage roofs can become a challenge if ladders and powered access towers are used. They have to be constantly repositioned, with ladders often not being the safest solution for this type of task and doing nothing to motivate volunteers that work on them.

    The HSE has set out a simple three-tier hierarchy in the WAHR (WAH Regulations) for managing work at height.   • Planet Solves yet Another Tricky Access Challenge  - 18/12/2008 Application

    When Planet Platforms was asked to provide an access solution for William Anelay Limited, little did the work at height specialist know that it would be something so unusual. William Anelay, the UK's specialist in the conservation and restoration of fine and historic buildings, was working on restoring the Navigation Warehouse in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. However, straightforward access to the exterior of the building was impossible because it is adjacent to the river Calder.

    Work at height specialist Planet Platforms organised a Work at Height (WAH) Workshop on the 2nd and 3rd of July at their new premises in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, to give people the opportunity to try out access equipment first-hand. Supported by Barclays Bank PLC and Chadwick Lawrence solicitors, these workshops were a follow-up to last year's Retail WAH Workshop, which was organised by Planet to promote safe working at height within retail and featured prominent speakers from KPMG, the HSE, IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health), and the access industry.

    Work at height specialist Planet Platforms has been accredited as 'one to watch' by the Sunday Times 'Best Companies' index 2008. The Best Companies Accreditation follows the elite 'Michelin style' star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement.
